It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we welcome you to the 2025 ESKA – European Shotokan Karate-Do Championships, taking place in the vibrant coastal city of Portimão, from 28 to 30 November 2025.

This year’s edition is organized locally by the Escola de Karate de Portimão and Associação Nacional Artes Marciais, a club that has shown remarkable dedication and results on the international stage.

We are honoured to highlight that our club is home to the current European Champion in Kata Youth Female, as well as three other medallists from the most recent European Shotokan Karate Championships. Their success reflects not only individual talent, but also the strength of our karate community here in Portimão.

Beyond the arena, Portimão invites you to discover a unique blend of sport, sea, and tradition. The city’s deep connection to the ocean is part of its identity—from sardine fishing, a hallmark of Portimão’s heritage, to the tuna fishing legacy that defines much of the wider Algarve coast. Today, this maritime culture lives on in its cuisine, waterfront, and people.

Portimão is also no stranger to world-class competition. The nearby Algarve International Circuit (Autódromo Internacional do Algarve) has hosted thrilling editions of both Formula 1 and MotoGP, solidifying the region’s place in global motorsport.
